With the opening of its first commercial farm, Morningstar Farms is taking its first step towards its goal of bringing animals closer to a “human life” by providing an eco-friendly way to raise them.
“Our aim is to provide the most humane farm animal farm in the country, one that is completely controlled and monitored,” said Morningstar’s head of farm operations, Peter O’Brien.
The Farm is located at the corner of South and Victoria streets in Eastwood, about an hour’s drive from Melbourne.
O’Brien said Morningstars animals would be bred on site and used for research purposes, and will be “super friendly” for anyone wanting to join them.
“We want to help people become part of a farm that provides for a long-term, sustainable future for animals,” O’Brian said.
Morningstar will also provide free, all-natural hay for the animals to graze on the farm, as well as grass for their hay beds.
The farm is expected to open its doors to the public next month.
Its first 100 animals will be raised at the farm from July 2, with a further 100 animals to follow.
